Baumgardner Retains Her Titles, Calls Out Taylor And Serrano
Alycia Baumgardner successfully defended her unified super featherweight titles, overcoming a resilient Bo Mi Re Shin to win a unanimous decision: 98-92, 98-92, 99-91.
The 10-round contest—notably contested in three-minute rounds—pushed the champion out of her comfort zone. Baumgardner set a fast pace in the opening minutes, utilizing her jab to snap Re Shin’s head back and dictate the range.

Baumgardner nearly ended the night early in the fourth round, landing a right uppercut that visibly rocked Re Shin. While it appeared a knockdown was imminent, the tough South Korean managed to weather the storm.
However, Re Shin’s persistence paid off. In the third, she landed a right hand that briefly buckled Baumgardner’s legs. The champion was caught again in the sixth by a hard combination. Re Shin turned the fight into a brawl in the seventh, outworking a momentarily fatigued Baumgardner.

Baumgardner showcased her elite ring IQ in the championship rounds. In rounds eight and nine, Baumgardner began boxing, making Re Shin miss. The pair then traded until the final bell. In her post-fight comments, Alycia called out Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano.
“Listen, three minutes, 10 rounds, on my period, baby stop playing with me. I’m feeling comfortable, it’s an adjustment every time, three minutes is a long time so I’m still learning and growing. I don’t know everything and I’m okay with that. You just go back and keep getting better. Katie Taylor, Amanda Serrano, what’s up,” she added, before dismissing Caroline Dubois despite the Briton calling her out. “I’m a piranha, that’s [Caroline Dubois] a guppy, get her out of here,” Baumgardner said
