Fans Predict Gabriel Bonfim Vs. Randy Brown

The UFC Apex will host a welterweight bout between Gabriel Bonfim and Randy Brown in their first-ever UFC main event at UFC Vegas 111 on November 8, as fans picked their winner.

Bonfim is on a three-fight winning streak that reestablished his momentum after a single career setback against Nicolas Dalby in late 2023. Since then, Bonfim has responded perfectly, securing impressive victories over Ange Loosa, Khaos Williams, and most recently, former title challenger Stephen Thompson. Those wins have propelled him into number 14 of the UFC Welterweight rankings.

Meanwhile, Brown brings a wealth of Octagon experience, having been a UFC welterweight mainstay since 2016. Now, he gets his long-awaited chance to headline a card. Brown enters the fight on a high, coming off a knockout victory over Nicolas Dalby in April. That stoppage win was the ideal response after Brown suffered a split decision loss to Bryan Battle in the fight prior.

The Approach

Bonfim’s strategy will be to use his high-level Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to neutralize Brown’s striking. His primary tactical objective will be to close the distance and secure a quick takedown. When on the feet, Bonfim will be mindful of his sole career loss (a TKO against Nicolas Dalby) and will use his own hands to create openings for entries, relying on short, sharp combinations rather than long exchanges.

Brown’s plan will be to rely on his size, reach, and striking. Standing at 6’3″ with a 78-inch reach (significantly longer than Bonfim’s 72-inch reach), Brown’s primary tactical objective will be to keep the fight at kickboxing range. He must utilize his long jab and push kicks to constantly probe Bonfim’s distance and interrupt the Brazilian’s forward movement. Brown will rely on his solid 73% takedown defense to force Bonfim to stand back up.
