Gabriel Bonfim Shuts Down Randy Brown With Second-Round KO

Gabriel Bonfim knocked out Randy Brown in the main event of their UFC Vegas 111 welterweight fight during the second round.

Bonfim is currently ranked number 14 in the UFC welterweight rankings, as he entered the bout on a three-fight winning streak, which has now extended to four. It was the perfect response after his sole defeat to Nicolas Dalby in 2023. He has 13 career submission wins, as he secured another big win. Brown entered the fight on a high, coming off a knockout victory over Nicolas Dalby in April. That stoppage win was the ideal response after Brown suffered a split decision loss to Bryan Battle, but this was another setback.

Bonfim hit Brown with a knee to the jaw at around the 1:37 mark of the second round to end their fight. While Brown protested the stoppage, in hindsight, it appeared the right decision. The replays showed that Brown may not have been aware of his surroundings, as he looked far into the distance, once he hit the canvas. In his post-fight comments, Bonfim had his eyes on Colby Covington next.

"We knew that the calf was something, we knew we needed to punish it and then the knee would show up. Colby, stop running away, stop running away. Give me the chance to take you out of the ranking right now. I’m going to retire him," Bonfim said
