UFC Fight Night – Rodolfo Vieira vs Tresean Gore: Preview & Betting Tips

J
Jake Staniland

This weekend’s UFC Fight Night features elite jiu-jitsu ace Rodolfo Vieira taking on dynamic prospect Tresean Gore in a middleweight clash.

Vieira (10-3) brings some of the most decorated grappling credentials in UFC history. A multiple-time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world champion, Vieira transitioned to MMA with a clear game plan: get the fight to the ground, dominate positionally, and finish with a submission. Thus far, all of his wins in the UFC (five) have come via submission.

Coming from The Ultimate Fighter, Gore (6-3) was hailed early as a middleweight to watch. With an athletic frame, a switch stance, and explosive bursts, Gore is capable of ending fights on the ground too just like his opponent on Saturday.

Rodolfo Vieira vs Tresean Gore: Analysis

While his cardio and striking were liabilities early in his UFC run, Vieira has made visible improvements on the feet. He fights behind a steady jab and utilises his tall frame and pressure to close distance. When the fight hits the mat it’s a different world; his control, timing, and ability to chain submissions together make him a nightmare for almost anyone at 185-pounds.

Gore is still learning on the job and refining his fight IQ. While his athleticism and ability to explode into takedowns or strikes from either stance make him unpredictable, it’s his decision-making and fight management that have raised red flags. Plus, he’s shown signs of being chinny early in his UFC career, having been knocked out twice in his first five fights.

The American has raw physical attributes and knockout power, but if he chooses to initiate takedowns, something he’s done even against less dangerous grapplers, he’s likely playing into Vieira’s strengths and will end up being choked out by the Brazilian.

Vieira vs Gore: Prediction & Betting Tips

Even if Gore looks to keep it standing, Vieira’s improved striking and relentless pressure give him paths to victory. Gore has yet to prove he can handle elite-level grapplers, and Vieira’s losses have come against top-tier competition, which Gore may never reach.

This feels like a case of too much, too soon for the American. Vieira’s experience in combat sports, his elite submission game, and recent improvements on the feet make him a tough puzzle for a developing fighter.

It’s clear to see why the Brazilian is the clear favourite in this one; he should be getting this one done by any means necessary. All of his wins in the UFC have come via this route, so I’m going to be wagering Rodolfo Vieira to win by submission at odds of 2.50 (Sky Bet).
