UFC White House Card Announced

The UFC White House card has been announced for June 14, which will be headlined by Ilia Topuria vs. Justin Gaethje.

Topuria, the lightweight champion, will have his first fight since stopping Charles Oliveira at UFC 317 last June to pick up the vacant lightweight title. That win made him a two-weight world champion, having previously secured the featherweight title. Meanwhile, Gaethje secured the interim lightweight title after beating Paddy Pimblett at UFC 324 in January. The victory made Justin a two-time interim champion and gave Pimblett his first loss. 

In chief support, Alex Pereira  will face Ciryl Gane for the interim lightweight title. It is Pereira’s first fight at heavyweight, having vacated his title at light heavyweight to pursue a belt in a third-weight class. A win means he will be in a position to face the full champion Tom Aspinall and try to become the first person ever to win title in three-weight divisions.

As for Gane, he is looking to bounce back from his no-contest against Aspinall last October. Gane had started the fight well before he landed an accidental double eye poke on Tom, who could not continue, resulting in Aspinall calling him a cheater.

[Pereira] moving up to take on a guy like Ciryl Gane? The way that these two fight, it’s gonna be very, very interesting. And should he win the fight, then we figure out what’s going on with Tom Aspinall and it could be him vs. Aspinall,” White
