Calvin Ford Teases A Big Fight For Davis, Haye Backs KSI To Beat Fury

In some recent boxing news, Gervonta Davis’ coach, Calvin Ford, has teased big things for the boxer’s return as an opponent could be announced soon.
Davis was recently released from prison after he had violated the terms of his house arrest in relation to a hit-and-run incident. Prior to that happening, however, Davis secured the biggest win of his career as he stopped Ryan Garcia in the seventh round.
The fight had sold over a reported $1.2 million pay-per-views in an event that captured the imagination of crossover fans. Thereafter, Leonard Ellberbe confirmed that Davis would be fighting for mega purses moving forward. And now Ford has teased a big fight on Davis’ return.
Ford On Davis
"Right now, something big is coming. I can tell you that. It’s quiet for a reason. They’re trying to seal the deal. It’s going to make the world turn," Ford stated
Davis’ Options
This naturally begs the question: who could it be? Well, the following names could be in contention. Davis has been linked with fights against Devin Haney, Shakur Stevenson and even Terence Crawford.
Although that may be the case, getting those fights next would be unlikely. Davis is likely going to want a tune-up in order to stay sharp before heading into a major fight.
Meanwhile, getting a deal in place with those fighters mentioned may not be easy since they are likely going to want a sizeable share of the purse.
But moving forward, if Davis can give the fans the mega fights, then the claims over him not facing the best will disappear. And that can only be a good thing moving forward.
KSI- Fury
Meanwhile, David Haye has backed KSI to beat Tommy Fury in their upcoming boxing bout.
KSI and Fury will face off on October 14th, 2023, in the latter’s first fight since his win over Jake Paul. Although Fury is the massive favorite, given that he is a professional boxer, Haye has backed KSI instead.
The former heavyweight champion suggested that Fury may overlook KSI on the grounds that he is not a professional boxer. This had happened, in part, when Fury faced Jake Paul.
Despite beating the latter, it was ultimately via a split decision. And in the process of that, Fury did hit the canvas from Paul’s jab. With that being said, this is what Haye had to say.
"I think KSI will beat Tommy. I think Tommy will underestimate him, he will believe as he said throughout the whole campaign that he is not a real boxer but I think he’s better than he’s ever been before.
"I actually think the best of [KSI] still has yet to be seen, the last fight with the elbow that knocked out Joe Fournier there’s not much you can take from that fight but I’ve been assured there’s plenty more to come and it will be a massive, massive upset for boxing," Haye stated
Victory for either fighter would put them in line to face Jake Paul. The latter has spoken about wanting to run things back with Fury.
Meanwhile, a win for KSI would also lead to calls for a mega fight with Paul. So either way, there is a lot on the line moving forward.
