Joe Rogan Advises MMA Fighters To Join The UFC For Career Boost

Joe Rogan has advised the best fighters in MMA to sign up for the UFC.

The UFC is the most recognized MMA organization around. It has produced several iconic fighters, such as Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov, with PPV numbers to back that up. Their fight did 2.4 million PPV buys, showing the UFC as a leading organization in the sport. But the presence of the PFL, One Championship and BKFC, to name a few, has provided fighters with alternatives.

The PFL, in particular, recently merged with Bellator with plans of a ‘champions vs. champions’ and ‘Bellator International Champions Series’ in 2024. The signing of Francis Ngannou, who secured his highest-ever purse for the Tyson Fury boxing fight, justified his decision to leave the UFC. During his ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ podcast, Rogan spoke with UFC fighter Bo Nickal. Nickal outlined how the organization was the best for his future. The decision paid off. Nickal is undefeated as he prepares for his next fight against Cody Brundage on April 13, 2024, at UFC 300.

Rogan On The UFC

"No disrespect to the other organizations, there’s very good fighters in the other organizations, but I often feel like they’re wasting their career. Because I see these elite fighters that are fighting in Bellator or PFL, and I’m like, ‘Hey guys, no one’s watching," Rogan stated

But at the same time, having a various options opens up doors for better fights. The merger between the PFL and Bellator increases the chances of fans seeing the best fights. It is now possible to see champions from Bellator and the PFL facing off against each other. One criticism against the UFC has been the fact that an alleged monopoly leaves fighters with fewer chances.

UFC’s Problems

Take the example of Leon Edwards potentially facing Belal Muhammad. Edwards defended his welterweight title for the second time following a unanimous decision win over Colby Covington at UFC 296. Muhammad attended the clash, which heated up during the build-up. In the pre-fight presser, Covington brought up Edwards’ late father, who was murdered, which resulted in the champion throwing a water bottle in return.

Edwards and Muhammad do have a history. They fought at UFC Vegas 21. The fight ended in a no-contest after an accidental poke by Edwards on Muhammed’s eye meant he could no longer fight. But following Muhammed’s win over Gilbert Burns, he was expected to fight Edwards. That never happened, and following Edwards’ win over Covington, the champion’s coach ( Dave Lovell) wanted him to face Burns. Now, Edwards may have had a change of heart.

“lol belal calm down son you’re the least intimidating person in the organisation. I already told UFC I don’t mind I’ll fight you next that’s easy work. You just have to figure out why they hate you so much,” Edwards said

If the fight does not happen, Edwards has spoken about moving up to middleweight to fight the winner of Sean Strickland vs. Dricus du Plessis. They face off at UFC 297 on January 20, 2024, as Strickland defends his middleweight title. So, more organizations gives fighters more avenues to explore if they feel they are not getting the best fights.
